RESORT UPDATE: Mary's Nipple at Grand Targhee

If you ever find yourself in Jackson Hole, Make sure you make the trip across the pass for some uncrowded lines at Grand Targhee resort. At some point in your ski bum life you must hike to the summit of Marys Nipple at Grand Targhee Resort and feast your eyes in the Grand Teton and its younger sisters, Mt. Owen, The Middle.
Photobucket
Marys nipple got its name from the resorts original owners and planners!
Snowcat Skiing Grand Targhee
The West side of the Nipple offers some great side country access to some of the best powder available in the Northern Rockies.
Snowcat Powder Grand Targhee
The slopes are short but incredibly sweet, some shots of up to 1100 vertical can be lapped countless times with a short boot pack to the summit.

DAY HIKE TETONS
Grand Targhee recently added an Avalanche Beacon farm to encourage the safe use of the backcountry accessed in there backyard!

AESTHETIC: The Art of the Powder Slash

Photos: Robin Pitt Location: Grand Targhee

Recently, Jackson Hole Snowboarder Magazine printed a nice piece on the Art of the Powder Slash!

I connected with the article and had to go out to Targhee and re-discover what a Powder Slash meant to me! This photo illustrates the set up, the initiation, the crank, the apex, and the explosion. The only thing missing is the shot of the huge smile on my face afterward!

To me, this is what Snowboarding is all about....
